Grammy winner J.D. Crowe picked up his first banjo at age 13 and hasn’t put it down since! The influential Bluegrass artist is described as a visionary committed to paying tribute to the past while embracing a wide-open future for the genre he loves. He began his career as a teenager inspired by Flatt & Scruggs and the Kentucky Barn Dance. In 1971, he founded The New South, a revolutionary Bluegrass band which originally included young musicians who would go on to successful solo careers including Ricky Skaggs and Bobby Sloan. Today, Crowe leads young musicians in a mission to continually reinvent Bluegrass while honoring the legacy of tone, taste and timing established by his musical idols.
